Healing Happens
"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Psalm 147:3
Throughout my journey I have learned that healing comes over time and with time we develop a spirit of forgiveness; a spirit that ultimately unlocks the door of fear and resentment so that we may be forever free from that which has kept us bound. I also recognize that the process of healing can be painful, yet the benefits greatly outweigh the burden. Therefore, we must embark upon this journey with both faith and intentionality; believing that the word of God will manifest itself even in our broken places if we are dedicated and determined to be set free! Thus, we must carve out the time in our busy, chaotic lives to make room for healing. Otherwise, we will continue to be stagnated in our spiritual growth; for a flower cannot blossom if it is weighted down by the debris of the seasons. Nor can we prosper and be elevated in our life if we allow the burdens of resentment and anger to overpower us. Each day we must rise and ask God to soften our hearts to those who have harmed us and to allow us to see them though his loving eyes. This does not excuse or minimize our plight; it merely allows us to take back control and to begin the healing process.
In my quest for spiritual freedom, I have come to know the Lord as my keeper, my healer and my redeemer; for John 8:36 exclaims that, "Whom the Son sets free, is free indeed." This scripture is the rock on which I stand and on which I have built my house of healing, for it reaffirms Gods' promise and His desire for us to be made whole, healed and delivered from all that has held our souls captive.
